Privacy Policy

Smoosh (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) respects your privacy and your child’s privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how Smoosh handles information when you use the mobile app.

Plain-English summary: Smoosh stores everything on your phone. We don’t have servers that collect your data, we don’t use analytics or ads, we don’t track you across the internet, and we don’t share anything with anyone. The only third party involved is Apple (or Google), who handles your subscription payment.

1. Who We Are

Smoosh is operated as an individual developer based in the United States. You can reach us at hello@smooshapp.com.

2. Information We Collect

The app collects the following information only on your device (locally, in your phone’s storage):

Onboarding preferences: your child’s age range (e.g., “12–18 months”), pickiness level, safe foods, dislikes, allergies/dietary restrictions, which meals you want planned, and daycare days
Meal feedback history: which meals you cooked and how your child responded (“ate it,” “picked at it,” “floor food,” “didn’t make it”)
Favorites: meals you marked as favorites
Grocery list state: which items you’ve checked off, which you already have at home
App usage state: trial start date, banners dismissed, age-check reminders

This information never leaves your device. It is stored using your phone’s local storage (AsyncStorage on iOS/Android) and is wiped automatically when you delete the app or use the “Delete Account” feature in Settings.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

To be clear about what Smoosh does NOT do:

No account creation — no email, no password, no name
No personally identifying information (PII) collected
No analytics or telemetry (no Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, etc.)
No third-party tracking SDKs
No advertising
No location data
No camera or photo library access
No contacts access
No data sold or shared with third parties for any purpose

4. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

Smoosh is designed for parents of toddlers ages 1–5, not for use by children themselves. The app is intended to be operated by an adult.

Although you provide your child’s age range during onboarding, this information:

Is treated as your child’s data and protected accordingly
Is stored only on your device
Is never transmitted to us or any third party
Is never sold, shared, or used for advertising

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because no information leaves your device, we have no ability to associate any data with a specific child or family.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Smoosh offers a 14-day free trial followed by a paid subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year). Subscription processing is handled entirely by:

Apple (via the App Store and StoreKit) for iOS users
RevenueCat, a subscription management platform, which receives anonymized purchase events to verify your subscription status. RevenueCat does not receive any of the information from Section 2 above.

Android support coming soon. Smoosh is currently iOS-only. When the Android version launches, this section will be updated to include Google Play Billing details.

Smoosh itself does not collect, store, or process any payment information. We never see your credit card, billing address, or Apple account details. Apple has its own privacy policy that governs this data:

To cancel or manage your subscription, use your device’s subscription settings. Smoosh has no ability to view, modify, or cancel subscriptions on your behalf.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

Delete all data instantly: Settings → Account → Delete Account → Delete Everything. This wipes every byte of data Smoosh has stored on your phone.
Uninstall the app: removes all locally stored data.
Cancel your subscription through Apple or Google at any time. The 14-day free trial can be cancelled before it ends to avoid being charged.

Because we do not collect or store data on our servers, traditional data-rights requests (access, correction, deletion) are not applicable — you have direct, immediate control over all of your information by managing it on your device.

7. Data Security

Your data is stored using your device’s standard local storage mechanisms, which are protected by your device’s operating system security (Apple iOS or Google Android). We have no servers to breach because we have no servers that hold your data.

8. International Users

If you are accessing the app from outside the United States, your data still stays on your device. No cross-border data transfers occur because no data leaves your device.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Material changes will be communicated via the app or by updating the policy on smooshapp.com/privacy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
